Unexpected School Closings and Delayed Openings
We follow Fairfax County Public Schools policy for poor weather school closings and delayed openings.
Fairfax County Public Schools severe weather announcements can be viewed at the FCPS Emergency Information website (http://www.fcps.k12.va.us/news/emerg.htm) or you may call them to hear a voice recording at the FCPS hot line at 800-839-FCPS (3277).
The following closing/delayed opening situations can be expected due to adverse weather or road conditions for Fairfax County Public Schools. Beside each is the impact it will have for Stepping Stones.
A. Cancellation – There will be no school at Stepping Stones.
B. One-hour delayed opening – Morning children report one hour late and go home at the normal time. Afternoon students have a regular schedule. Music and lunch bunch will occur at the regular times.
C. Two-hour delayed opening – Morning session reports at 11:00 a.m. and dismisses at 1:00 p.m. The regular snack policy is in effect. (AM music and lunch bunch dismisses at 2pm.) Afternoon session reports at 1:15 p.m. and dismisses at 3:15 p.m. The regular snack policy will be in effect. (PM music and lunch bunch report at 12:15.) Please note that our opening is not quite 2 hours late.
D. One-hour early closing – Afternoon classes dismiss at 2:15 p.m. (This has happened in the past due to heat in the fall months.)
E. Two-hour early closing – Morning classes will dismiss at 11:00 a.m. Afternoon classes will be cancelled. Music and lunch bunch will also be cancelled.
